The cover has art from Nick Roche with colours from Liam Shalloo.

Bay not Happy with Marketing Efforts for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Gossip site TMZ have managed to get hold of some emails sent by Michael Bay to the big-wigs at Paramount Pictures, complaining about the marketing campaign they have prepared. In the first, sent in May he criticizes the presence of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in the public eye as not being there, especially compare to the first film, “You talk so glowingly about Transformers being the movie of the summer, but unfortunately this has not got to the public”.

Bay also points out that there was a 30-minute feature at the MTV Movie Awards, but only a minimal presence this year.

In his second e-mail on 6 June, Bay compared Paramount to a family and thanked executives for “busting your butts and bringing your ‘A Game’ for the release of Transformers.” It seems the explosive one isn’t happy.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Explodes at UK and Japan Box Office

Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen;s opening in the UK and Japan last week had brought in big money at the box office over the weekend. In total, the film has made $20m from both territories.

In the UK, Revenge of the Fallen opened on 517 screens, making $14.1million over 3 days, which was 71% more than the first movie and very close to The Dark Knight. This time, it did help that the film opened around the same time as the rest of the world and not on the same day as another blockbuster (The Simpsons Movie opened against Transformers in 2007). Expect the film to easily beaat the $50million made from the first movie. The film has dislodging The Hangover from the top of the UK box office.

In Japan, it made $5.8million showing on 329 screens, which was down on the first film, mainly due to it opening during the school term, but expect it to pick up later in July and August.

Given these already big numbers, expect some more in the coming week, when the film opens in the rest of the world.

LA Revenge of the Fallen Press Conference with Bay & Co

ComingSoon.net has a transcript of the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen press conference held in Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles.

In attendance at the event were Michael Bay, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Kevin Dunn, Megan Fox and Ramon Ridriguez. As usual, they talked about the military involvement, the Twins , staying in shape, the theme of the movie, the inclusion of President Obama in the film, Shia’s hand injury and how they worked around it, and various other discussion points.

Also mentioned was that the DVD will be a far more expanded affair with “Ridley Scott’s DVD guy” doing it. I’m guessing this is Charles de Lauzirika, who is responsible for the brilliant Alien Quadrilogy, Gladiator Extended Edition, Kingdom of Heaven and Blade Runner DVD sets! They will also be following The Dark Knight and having the IMAX stuff included in the film.

Elizabeth Snead have taken some videos of the panel, so if you can’t be bothered to read, you can watch instead.

Transformers Press Conference in London, part 4

Written by Darren 'Starscream' Jamieson on | News,Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen |

In the penultimate part of the Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Press Conference in London, Michael Bay is asked a difficult question about how children are able to watch a film like Transformers which has a lot of robot violence in it. Michael defends the film as being ‘alien violence’ and parents should be allowed to raise their children anyway they like and watch the film if they want to.

Michael also talks about his distaste for motion capture and blue screen, which was used heavily in the Star Wars movies. Michael Bay is also asked if there are any landmarks on earth that he would like to blow up, in the movies at least!

Shia LaBeouf also talks about the Internet rumour that spread about him being attracted to his mother after an offhand comment he made. Megan Fox revealed that she doesn’t read anything online about herself and is embarrassed about comments towards her beauty.

Poor thing.

First details on Length of IMAX Version of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Just in time, Paramount Pictures UK have had the IMAX version of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen rated by the BBFC in time for today’s release. It has been given the same 12A rating as the regular cinema cut.

As we previously revealed, the regular cinema version of the film is 149m 45s long, but the IMAX version, which was revealed to be longer, is only slightly extended at 151m 16s, or 1m 31s of extra robot action. Now, the question we have to ask is, how much action can you put in 1m 31s that makes it worthwhile? The answer, to the most eager of fans, is absolutely loads.

Look out for details on which extra scenes have been put in very soon.

Bay NOT Quitting Transformers

It seems the explosive one has been misquoted and is not quitting the Transformers franchise, but rather taking a break before Transformers 3 hits in 2012.

Hah,

Love press how they spin. Never said it – just wanted a vacation is more to the point. And no I don’t read the good or the bad reviews.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen out in the UK & Ireland!

The date has finally arrived, 19th June, when fans in the UK and Ireland can ignore the sunny weather and head down to their local cinema or IMAX theatre and bask in Michael Bay’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

The 2 and a half hour movie opens unopposed and should set the box office alight for the next 2 weeks until Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs and Public Enemies open on 3rd July. The film is expected to eclipse the $50 million made by the first film, which was affected by opening on the same day as The Simpsons Movie and a month after most of the world.

Once you’ve seen it, come and tell us what you think!
