Transformers, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has recently discussed what lies ahead for Transformers 3 in an interview with Rotten Tomatoes.
He talks about the possibility of Paramount keeping the release date of July 2011, therefore going ahead with the film without Michael Bay, the negatives that Revenge of the Fallen has received and his thoughts on Unicron appearing in future films.
We just received this press release from Activision concerning exclusive downloadable content for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. The downloadable content pack includes new playable characters, including a Generation One version of Starscream.
Now that you’ve had the opportunity to experience the single-player campaigns and multiplayer modes of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, we wanted to let you know about an exciting downloadable content pack that Luxoflux has been hard at work on to support the growing TF: RotF community.
Set to launch later this summer for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game, the robust DLC offering will appeal to fans of both the original Transformers animated series and the blockbuster films.
We are pleased to announce that the pack will include the following:
Over TEN new multiplayer characters including ultimate fan favorites such as G1 Starscream and movie favorites like Sideswipe.
Three all-new multiplayer maps.
Play new characters in both the Autobot and Decepticon single player campaigns.
New Expert difficulty mode with a fresh set of leaderboards to challenge more experienced gamers in the single-player campaigns.
Michael Bay revealed recently how he filmed a video of Megan Fox washing his Ferrari as part of her audition for the original Transformers movie. This news has been spreading through the Internet on various gossip sites, with Bay apparently saying that he doesn’t know what happened to the video.
We can confirm here on TheTransformers.Net that Michael Bay did indeed say he filmed Megan Fox washing his car, and Megan admitted it too. They both stated this at the London press conference for Transformers Revenge of the Fallen that we attended last month.
Of course the real question is can we see a video of Megan Fix washing Bay’s Ferrari? Well, we don’t quite have that video but we do have a video of Megan Fox washing a window while wearing hot pants, for a scene from the comedy series Two and Half Men.
You can watch the video of Megan Fox washing a window below
Unsurprisingly, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has now passed the $700 million mark at the box office, having made $703.7 million, and is within touching distance of the first movie’s $708.3 million total.
This is equally impressive when you consider the current economic climate, and the fact that the dollar is worth less in most international territories than 2 years ago.
Domestically, the film made another $24.2 million in its third weekend to reach a total of $339.2 million, passing the $319 million made by the first film. Brüno and Ice Age 3 made larger amounts over the weekend.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: Defiance, the second prequel series to this summers movie, has AGAIN made it into the New York Times Best Seller List, entering at no. 6 for 4th July.
Defiance focuses on the origins of Cybertron and the beginnings of the war, being set before both films. I won’t spoil it for people, but it will flesh out the actual Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen film, with some more characterisation and better explanation of certain plot points.
The series is written Chris Mowry with art from Dan Khanna.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen may have only just been released, but Paramount Pictures and Dreamworks SKG are already planning on Transformers 3 for Friday, 1st July 2011.
Back in March, director Michael Bay mentioned he would only do Transformers 3 if it was release a year later in 2012, which ultimately brings the key question, do Paramount wait at extra year to keep Bay or rush out a sequel?
Associated Content have discussed this point, and it seems we will be waiting 3 years, around the London 2012 Olympics, for more bot action. Despite Bay being back, the extra year should give the writers more time to flesh out a story that is more coherent.
The latest confirmed box office receipts are in and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has now made £20,785,050 in the UK up to 5th July.
The first film ended making around £25 million by the end of its run in 2007, so expect Revenge of the Fallen to pass this very soon. However, due to differing exchange rates (credit crunch), it probably won’t pass the $50 million equivalent from 2 years ago.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen beatthe deep freeze Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs over the US Independence Day weekend with a $42.4 million total compared to $41.6 million for a very narrow victory.
The weekend box office receipts brought the domestic total to $293,355,885 according to BoxOfficeMojo in just 12 days. The first film took about a month to reach this number, and is now less than $30 million ahead of the all conquering sequel.
The total worldwide box office now stands at $591,355,885, just $115 million from Transformers final total. This figure is also misleading as the international territories don’t include the weekend gross, only count up to 1st July.
The French part of Blu-ray.com is listing Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (or The Revenge as in is called in France) to be released on Blu-ray on 24th October. Amazon.fr also have the same details on their site, which could lead this be quite accurate information. If true, the rest of the world should receive DVD/Blu-ray releases around the same time.
Please note that nothing has been confirmed by Paramount Home Entertainment and that Blu-ray.com is not the official site of the Blu-ray Disc Association.
